Description
This building on Exhibition Road
was originally known as the Tanaka Business
School in honour of Dr. Gary Tanaka who
contributed £26million to its
construction. In 2008 the building was
renamed the Imperial College Business
School. The building is one of four
projects on the campus designed by the
architectural practice of Foster +
Partners. It acts as the main entrance
to the college and home to a rather dramatic
metal clad cylinder that houses a series of
six stacked lecture theatres.
Beside the cylinder is a cantilevered
staircase that provides access to the upper
floors and the neighbouring Royal School of
Mines.
Outside a row of white columns stands in front
of a 24 metre high glass facade.
