Description
The Tiroler Wasserkraft Arena (known as the TKW Arena) occupies a site beside the Olympiahalle in Innsbruck.  The two buildings are physically connected and share entrances and foyers.

The TKW is a centre for Tyrolean ice sports including a first-class ice hockey team and public skating.  The building was designed by the German architectural practice of Rang & Volz, winners of a competetive design competition.  The arena's website explains that Rang & Volz's concept was successful, "... For a good reason: a lot of ecofriendly measures - from the warmth recovery to a rainwater for the ice. - underlines the visionary and ecologic character of the project. .... the arena is equipped with a light redirection system, which makes the daylight in the hall possible."

The building shown below sits beside the TWK Arena.  Behind the rather dramatic sinuous cladding, it contains equipment that controls heating/cooling and power for the TWK and the adjacent Olympiahalle.
