Description
The bridge spans the West India Quay dock.  It is 94 metres long supported on four pairs of X-shaped tubular steel struts that are bolted to pontoon floats that are filled with polystyrene.

The deck of the bridge is clad with wooden planks.  This is a bascule bridge with two opening sections in the middle to allow the movement of boats.  At night the lime-green paintwork is luminous and the handrails light up.

The pontoon structures have reminded some of a flying boat and others of a water-boatman insect perching on the surface of the water.
