This imposing office block on John
Carpenter Street, just off the Victoria
Embankment, is home to J. P. Morgan. The
City of London Pevsner describes it as, "...
A very long unbroken grey granite block,
reminiscent of early C20 American simplified
classicism. Two-storey rusticated base
and cornice, upper storey with plain piers
and a much deeper cornice. ... Entrance
through a lower, part-glazed linking

Across the street is a
near-matching lettable block (see below)
that apparently occupies the site of the
former City of London School for Girls.
The address of J. P.
Morgan is 60 Victoria Embankment because its
presence on the Embankment is the former
City of London School for Boys (seen in the
image below beside Unilever House).
The new J. P. Morgan building is attached to
the rear of the old school.
