The architect's website says of Grieg's
Gaarden that it is, "...a modern
building which ... has found its
natural place in the building
environment around the harbor.
The
building is a good example that it
is possible to "adapt" existing
buildings without resorting to
nostalgia or superficial style
copying. " In 1995 it
was awarded the Bergen
municipality Architecture Prize. The building is the Headquarters of the Grieg Group, "... an international Group of companies operating within shipping, ship broking, maritime services & port operations, seafood, investments and finance." The company has, "... more than 2000 employees represented in a number of towns and locations in Norway, as well as in Europe, USA, Canada, South America and Asia."    |
