A
truely monolithic brutalist office building
sitting at the end of The
Moor in Sheffield's city centre. A
spectacular building featuring
red brick bands between rows of windows
separated by concrete panels.
It was
apparently once
known as the Manpoweer Services Commission
building and was occupied
by: The Department for Children, Schools
and Families; the
Department for Innovation, Universities and
Skills; the Department for
Work and Pensions; and the Home Office.
It was expected that the
building would be demolished to make way for a
new financial district,
but after the central government departments
moved out, several
departments of the Sheffield Town Hall moved
in.
