Description
|
Sparbankshuset is
a mixed use building with retail outlets at
street level and offices above. It is
home to Stockholm’s Stads Sparbank, now called
Swedbank. The facade on Hamngatan is covered
with green-painted aluminum sheet and features
sharp steel roof beams. The
building underwent reconstruction in
2002 - 2004 by Nyréns Arkitektkontor to
install a new ventilation system below ground
level thereby freeing up space on the top
floor for more offices.
Apparently, the building was classified in
2007 as one of the most valuable properties in
the district, and that the building meets the
criteria for historic buildings in the
Cultural Heritage Act.
