Description
|
This is an office building with many
names. It is called "New Hall Place", the
"Royal & Sun Alliance Building" (after its
original developer) and "The Capital", the name
under which its latest developer Downing is
marketing it. Locally, it has been known
as "The Sand Castle" for obvious reasons.
The building stands 13 stories high and has been
described as a cubist interpretation of the
Liver Building. Pevsner describes it as a,
"...massive irregular stepped
pyramid...faced with ribbed panels of
yellow-brown concrete. Narrow slit
windows give it a fortress air."
