Description
|
The Hadselbrua, or Hadsel Bridge, was
built in the 1970s as part of a program to
construct a number of bridges that made it
possible to link several Norwegian islands by
road and eliminate the need for ferry
journeys. In essence, the Hadselbrua links
the town of Stokmarknes on the island of
Hadseloya, to the islands of Boroya and
Langoya. The first part of the link is a
short cantilever bridge from Stokmarkness to
Boroya.

The longer section involves two causeways, one
at either end, which link to the Hadselbrua
Bridge, another concrete cantilever
construction.

In total the Hadselbrua is 1,011 metres long
made up of 27 spand the longest of which is 150
metres. The clearance provided to shipping
is at its maximum 30 metres.
