Description
|
This concrete and
glass office building on Hythe Bridge Street
was originally the headquarters of the
Blackwell book selling empire. The
Pevsner Guide for Oxfordshire explains that, "...
The pivot is the diagonally set staircase
tower at the corner of Hythe Bridge Street
and Rewley End. The tower is of
reeded concrete blocks. To Hythe
Bridge Street the whole front is a glass
curtain wall, except for the grouped
entrances. The top floor projects,
the ground floor is retracted. To
Rewley End the ground floor is reeded
concrete with only six widely spaced
windows. Above it is again all
glass."
