Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier is home to the Opera de Montreal and Les Grands Ballet Canadiens.  Originally called the Grands Salle, it was later renamed in honour of the famous conductor and director of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.  The building is a large multi-purpose facility capable of accommodating 2,982 people and of hosting a variety of artistic events from rock concerts to ballet.  Over the years it has seen performances from, among others, Maria Callas, Bob Dylan, Radiohead, Charles Aznavour, Luciano Pavarotti, Miles Davis, The Red Army Choir, and Ella Fitzgerald.  The venue is one of five performance halls in the Place des Arts linked by an underground mall.
