The Olympiaturm is a
reinforced concrete communications tower
built in the Munich Olympic Park in time
for the 1972 Summer Olympics. It
stands 291 metres high and weighs 52.500
tones. At the 190 metre height there
is an observation platform. Just
below that, at the 181 metre level there
is a revolving restaurant aptly called
Restaurant 181. The restaurant seats 230
people and makes a complete revolution of
the tower every 53 minutes. The
tower has one Deutsche Telekom maintenance
elevator with a speed of 4 m/s, as well as
two visitor lifts with a speed of 7 m/s
which have a capacity of about 30 people
per car.
