French Railway House, London

Architect
Shaw & Lloyd
Date Built
1960 - 62
Location
178 - 180 Piccadilly
Description
This 1960s mixed-use building was, as the sign says, home to the French Railway Company SNCF.  At that time it sported a sign that projected out above the pavement on Piccadilly spelling out the word FRANCE.  This sign, since removed, was apparently the creation of Erno Goldfinger.

The building is clad in Portland stone and features crittle windows.  Today it is home to the retailer Cath Kidston.
