The Carrs Lane Church was
designed by Denys Hinton who was described
in his Times obituary as,
"...
one of the pioneers of a Modernist
form of church architecture that thrived
in Britain from the early 1960s.”
The building received a Civic Trust Award in
1972.
The Pevsner Architectural Guide for
Birmingham describes it as,
"...A
tough piece, typical of its date
... A mixture of red and plum
Staffordshire brick, laid in Sussex
bond. Four blocks linked by a
central glass foyer... The chapel
has blank brick gables split by V-shaped
recesses with narrow strip windows."
