The Puddefjorden Bridge is in fact two nearly identical adjacent bridges built side-by-side but 43 years apart.  Today it carries a six lane road and two cycle/footpaths over the Puddefjorden.  The 1956 bridge had an overall length of 436 metres with a central span that is 152 metres long and 28 metres above the water.  In 1999 the second bridge was added increasing the lanes from 3 to 6.
