Waitrose - Edgware Road, London, UK

This Waitrose store on the Edgware Road was once a branch of Woolworths.  It was one of four Woolworths stores in London purchased by Waitrose following the demise of the Woolworths brand in the UK.  Woolworths first opened a store on this Edgware Road site in 1914.  The building that we see today was the result of work done in 1936.   Prior to its closure it became a "Woolworths General Store" a convenience store format that the company tried for a while in conjunction with Superdrug.  However, the inevitable collapse of the company came not long after this effort.  Waitrose stepped in and bought the building in 2008.
