Built as the Mount Royal Flats with what Pevsner decribed as "700 small flats".  He adds that it is, "Important as an early modernist essay on a London thoroughfare."  Apparently, it was used during WWII as accommodation for American Army officers.  It became the Mount Royal Hotel and then more recently the Thistle Marble Arch offering 692 bedrooms over eight floors.  The building features bands of red and brown bricks and glazed stairwells.
