Description
Plecnick's design was chosen from 31
entries in a competition in 1919.
Construction started in 1929 and took three
years to complete. The striking facade is
made up of glazed bricks and artificial granite.
The most noticeable feature is the large
rectangular
clock tower with its transparent clock. At
the top of the tower is a copper dome and four
metre tall cross.
