Marks & Spencer - Oxford Street & Orchard Street, London, UK

Architect
Trehearne & Norman with W. A. Lewis
Date Built
1929 - 1930
Location
At the corner of Oxford Street and Orchard Street
Description
This is Marks & Spencer's flagship store with 170,000 square feet of retail space spread over four floors.

The typical Marks and Spencer clock reveals that the building was known as Michael House.  The St. Michael Brand was created by Simon Marks, son of the founder Michael Marks, in the 1920s in honour of his late father.  The brand was used until 2000 and the title Michael House obviously reflects the company's connection to that brand.
