The Genève-Cornavin
Railway Station was built in 1858 but was
rebuilt in 1931 which accounts for its present
appearance. It is Geneva's main railway
station accommodating an average of 115,000
passengers on a typical working day. There
are 8 platforms serving on averasge 230 train
arrivals and departurtes each day.
Between 2013 and 2014
the eastern part of the train station
underwent a general reconstruction. The
shopping and public area was extended which
provided more space and ticket machines to
the previously overcrowded station. The
result was a more modern, airy look.
