                         This building occupies a
                          prominent site across from Victoria Park in
                          the Saskatchewan capital.  In 2014 it is
                          home to the Radisson Plaza Hotel but in was
                          built in the 1920s for the Canadian Pacific
                          Railway as the fourteenth in a chain of hotels
                          built along the CP trans-continental railway
                          line.  It opened in 1927 as the Hotel
                          Saskatchewan, offering a choice of 280 rooms
                          in luxurious surroundings.  Over the
                          years it has included among its guests Queen
                          Elizabeth II, and it has been a popular
                          meeting place for the city's social
                          elite.  For 39 years between 1945-84 it
                          was the official residence and office of the
                          Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan.  
                          
                             
                         
                        The building stands eleven
                          storeys high.  The upper floors are clad
                          in buff-coloured bricks and the lower floors
                          with Tyndall Stone, a dolomitic limestone
                          quarried in the vicinity of  Garson,
                          Manitoba.  The Canadian Register of
                          Historic Places describes it as having an,  "...
                            ‘H’ shaped plan with
                              projecting lower façade; terraced skyline
                              roof combining both flat and hip elements

                              ... (it features) Classical and Georgian
                              style influences, such as the front
                              balustrade with mounted urns, quoining,
                              pilaster wall treatments with Corinthian
                              capitals, pediment window crowns and tall,
                              round-headed first-storey windows;
                              elevated Victoria Avenue entrance with
                              straight flight stairs."
                          
                          
                          Today the hotel is part of the Radisson chain
