This building occupies a

the Saskatchewan capital. In 2014 it is
home to the Radisson Plaza Hotel but in was
built in the 1920s for the Canadian Pacific
Railway as the fourteenth in a chain of hotels
built along the CP trans-continental railway
line. It opened in 1927 as the Hotel
Saskatchewan, offering a choice of 280 rooms
in luxurious surroundings. Over the
years it has included among its guests Queen
Elizabeth II, and it has been a popular
meeting place for the city's social
elite. For 39 years between 1945-84 it
was the official residence and office of the
Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan.
The building stands eleven
storeys high. The upper floors are clad
in buff-coloured bricks and the lower floors
with Tyndall Stone, a dolomitic limestone
quarried in the vicinity of Garson,
Manitoba. The Canadian Register of
Historic Places describes it as having an, "...

projecting lower façade; terraced skyline
roof combining both flat and hip elements
...
... (it features) Classical and Georgian
style influences, such as the front
balustrade with mounted urns, quoining,
pilaster wall treatments with Corinthian
capitals, pediment window crowns and tall,
round-headed first-storey windows;
elevated Victoria Avenue entrance with
straight flight stairs."
Today the hotel is part of the Radisson chain
