Description

These semi-detached houses, built in 1912, have the appearance of a pyramid when viewed from Manchester Old Road. The steeply pitched main roof is extended by the pitched-roof entrance porches on either side. The design is highly symmetrical with two angular bays that rise high enough to break the line of the eaves. Stone lintels and ledges form horizontal stripes above and below the 10 windows on each of the first two floors. John Archer says of them, "These houses are not expensively built and they were probably a speculation, but they set a standard in urban design which is unfortunately rare in this kind of project."
