Description
This women's fitness centre on Overtoom started life 90 years ago as stable/garage for the Amsterdam police.  The website for the National Office of Cultural Heritage in Holland says that only the facade of the original building survives today (what follows are excerpts from their description translated clumsily into English).   "In the middle of the front .... located between the garage doors on the left and the main entrance on the right side .... (is) the lodge ... for the sergeant. Behind them were the rooms for cleaning and stabling of horses, as well as for cleaning and storage of bicycles."  The building is, "Largely built in masonry with four floors: ground floor, two floors and an almost blind top floor."
