Gare du Palais, Quebec City, Canada

Architect
Harry Edward Prindle
Date Built
1915
Location
450 Rue de la Gare du Palais
Description
Opened in 1915, the Gare du Palais is still a fully functioning railway station, although I gather that it didn't have any passenger service for a period of nine years from 1976 to 1985.

Today it offers passengers VIA Rail trains and OrlĂ©ans Express buses.  The name comes from the station's proximity to the Palace of the Intendant (Steward) of New France.  The building shares the "Chateau" style of architecture with its other neighbour, the Chateau Frontenac.

Inside, the station has a beautiful brick vaulted ceiling with a stained glass top.

The ticket hall still has the counter created for the Quebec Central Railway and the Canadian National Railway.
