When I took
these photographs, in April of 2014, work was well
underway on a new primary school in
Longsight. The school will be operated by
BigLife the same organization responsible for the
running of the adjacent Sure Start Centre.
Both facilities are located on a plot of land
between Farrer Road and Montgomery Road that was
once home to St. Robert's Roman Catholic Primary
School and St. Robert's Church.
At this point in time, the children already enrolled with the school are accommodated in a temporary facility that features two KS1 rooms and a Reception room. The school says that, "LCP will have classrooms in September 2013 for Reception, Year One and Year Two children and the building will then grow as the school grows until all 210 pupils are attending by 2017. LCP will have a brand new building ready for September 2014. Our new building will be an extension to the current Children’s Centre on Farrer Road in Longsight and will have a shared entrance with the Children’s Centre. ........ ......... These are exciting times for the community of Longsight and we hope that this close link with the Centre will mean that our parents are assured of high quality provision from birth right through to 11." |
