In 1967, during the Comprehensive School reorganization, The Central Grammar School for Boys, on Kirkmanshulme Lane, was twinned with Victoria Park Secondary School and was renamed the Central High School for Boys. At that time the Victoria Park site became the Lower School and the Kirkmanshulme Lane site the Upper School. When the Central High School was again twinned with Ducie Technical High School, both schools closed and merged in a brand new state-of-the-art site. The Central Lower School was demolished for redevelopment as you can see opposite.
