St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church

St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church sits on Plymouth Grove, close to the junction with Hathersage Road.

St. Joseph's Church was founded in 1868 but the present building, seen above, wasn't built until 1915.  It was designed by the architectural practice of Lowther & Rigby.  Pevsner describes it as being of "Red brick with a striking NW tower, which has splayed angle buttresses,"  adding that it shows, "Free Style and Art Nouveau touches"
