A
group of baptists first started meeting in Longsight
in 1887 in an iron building at the corner
of Slade Grove and Duncan Road that was generally
known as the "Tin Tabernacle". The memorial stone for the Baptist
Church on Slade Lane was laid in 1898 and the chapel
opened two years later.
Beside the church sits the building shown below. It was the church's Sunday School. Today the church is known as the "Church of God Seventh Day". |
