One Two Five Deansgate

This construction site on Deansgate will be home to a new office building to be known as One Two Five Deansgate.  The building's developers claim it will be, "... one of Manchester’s most recognisable office buildings," adding that it, "... sits in a highly prominent location, positioned conveniently for access to the Central Business District, the Civic Quarter and Spinningfields, Manchester’s premier business destination.  The 116,000 sq ft Grade A BREEAM ‘Excellent’ building will rise 12 storeys above the Manchester skyline, the full height glazing and roof terrace will provide unrivalled panoramic views across the city centre."

The site used to be home to two buildings.

  Lincoln House

Designed by Holford Associates and built in 1986, this all glass building stood on the corner of Deansgate and Brazennose Street.  One of the tenants was Lincoln House Chambers who described themselves as, "...one of the leading sets of Chambers in the North of England.  There are 60 barristers providing services of the highest quality to both professional and lay clients in criminal and civil law.  We have 10 Queen’s Counsel, 17 Crown Court Recorders and 17 Category 4 (CPS) prosecutors; indicative of the quality and strength of Chambers."

When I visited in March of 2017, I discovered the building, and the one next door, wrapped and in the process of being demolished.

Next door was 123 Deansgate.
