Buildings
 At the corner of Central Street and Mount Street stands the Lawrence Building. Designed by Pennington and Brigden for the Queens Building Society and built in 1874, it spans 5 storeys in Darley Dale stone.  Above the door at the
Central Street corner are 6 shields depicting the 6
northern counties and on opposite sides stand a
unicorn and a lion.
 A statue of Queen Victoria stands in a niche on the Mount Street side.   Close Window |
