201
Deansgate
201 Deansgate stands
on the corner of Deansgate and Jackson's Row. In
the middle of the 19th Century this site was a
Quaker's Burial Ground.
In 1901 "Century
Buildings" was erected on the site of the former
burial grounds. By 1953 the site was once again
empty, possible a victim of the World War II
bombing. The arrow indicates the neighbouring
Onward Buildings and the shaded area marks the
location of today's 201 Deansgate.
Built in 1996/97, 201
Deansgate was designed by Holford Associates.
This red brick and glass building is described by
Pevsner as "pompous".
