Alliance Building - 17 York Street
Also known as Clock
House, because of the prominent clock high above the
front entrance, this office building was built in 1993
and designed by the architects Cassiot & Ashton.
Home to the Royal
Sun Alliance Insurance Company, it occupies a site
on York Street between West Mosley Street and
Fountain Street.
Once this site was
occupied by the equally imposing Union Bank of
Manchester, which was later a branch of Barclay's
