India
House
Another of the Lloyd Packing Warehouses on Whitworth Street designed by H. S. Fairhurst. A companion to Lancaster House which is adjacent to it with an entrance way leading to the rear separating them. India House was completed in 1906 in what Clare Hartwell, author of "Pevsner Architectural Guide to Manchester", describes as Edwardian Baroque. India House was converted to apartments in the 1980s. The River Medlock
flows past the rear of India House. Here the maximum
use of glass to provide natural light into the
warehouse can be seen.
