St. John Street

St. John Street is the only surviving Georgian terraced street in central Manchester, and it lies at the heart of a conservation area. It received a facelift in 1963 that was partially funded by the City Council. The goal was to re-establish a degree of consistency in regards to the appearance of the buildings.

24 St. John Street was built in the mid 19th century and it is clearly different from its neighbours in that it is higher and more elaborately detailed.

Today St. John Street is home to doctors' consulting rooms and legal chambers. Each of the houses has brass plaques identifying their occupants.
