This building on Stretford Road in Old Trafford has been home to the Fo Guang Shan Monastery since 1996.  The building has three storeys and a basement that were renovated by the occupants, and today it houses, "... the Main Shrine, the Shrine of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva (Guan Yin) and the Shrine of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva (Di Zang). "  It also features, "... a kitchen, the dining hall, the library, reception, as well as rooms for meditation, conference, classes and accommodation for Buddhists."

It was opened in 1899 as a Technical Institute, subsequently it became Old Trafford Public Library before assuming its present role.
