This complex on Varley Street in Miles Platting is home to the Miles Platting Swimming Pool and Library.  In February of 2011 the BBC web site was running a story that both facilities were due for closure as a result of the Manchester City Council's plans to address its funding shortfall.  However, as of March 2011 the pools website is saying that, "Following the recent publication by Manchester City Council of the detailed budget proposals for 2011/12, please note this centre is still open to the public as usual. We are currently in dialogue with the City Council to fully assess the impact of the proposals and what this means to the leisure facilities we operate for all our users, local residents and staff." 

The pool offers, "3 different sized swimming pools, the pools provide a variety of activities for the local community including a small fitness gym.  A range of water based activities take place at the centre including Free Swimming for Manchester residents Over 60, casual swimming sessions, Swimlife swimming lessons and aqua aerobics classes."
