Exchange Quay The Manchester Ship
Canal passes beneath the Trafford Road Swing Bridge on
its way into the Pamona Docks. Beside the bridge,
on the Salford side, is Exchange Quay, an area that in
1948 was occupied by some comercial buildings and rows
of terraced houses. Some of the empty plots in the
image above are probably due to bomb damage from the
1941 raids. If you visit Exchange Quay today it
looks significantly differerent.
The Exchange Quay web
site says this of the development: "EQ provides
high-class modern accommodation which combines with the
wealth of leisure, retail and business amenities of
Salford Quays to create a '24 hour' living, breathing
and constantly evolving working environment." It
comprises 8 buildings.
