According to Salford University's
Campus Guide, Crescent House is home to the School of
Humanities, Languages and Social Sciences and also
accommodates the university's Human Resources
department. I suspect that it was built in the
1960s because the oldest image I have found of it in the
university's image collection was dated 1968 and the
architecture is certainly characteristic of that
period.
The long term plan for the development of the university
is to consolidate its operations on the Peel Park Campus
site and at Media City. To that end the university
will eventually move out of Crescent House and according
to Salford Council's development plan dated 2011,
"Once
the university vacates premises, it will be
redeveloped for residential use with an active
ground floor use e.g. retail, food and
drink."
