The Ainscow - Trinity Way

This former industrial building on the corner of Egerton Street and Trinity Way in Salford started life in 1878 as a brewery owned by Watson and Woodhead.  However, by 1927 the building's occupants were Mackie and Sons who manufactured jams and preserves rather than beer.  Records show that by 1957 it had changed hands again, this time becoming home to Brown Brothers, who sold auto parts and continued to trade from this location until 1986.  In the years that followed, a variety of plans were proposed for the vacant building.

Today the sign on the outside announces that it is "The Ainscow", a boutique hotel that says it offers, " a 62 strong collection of living spaces to fulfill every desire,"  adding that, "In restoring this famous landmark, we have sought to capture the character of the original building. We believe that it is simply too interesting to be allowed go to waste. As such, our guests will be able to enjoy some of the original features and architectural aesthetics that prove that ‘they don’t build them like that anymore’."  The hotel is named after its developer, Carol Ainscow.
