Clegg, Fryer
and Penman
St James' Buildings, Oxford Street - 1912 - 1913 A
huge Baroque portland stone office building by
Clegg, Fryer and Penman for the Calico
Printer's Association. Clare Hartwell in
Pevsner's Architectural Guide to Manchester
says that it is "so big that it can only be
seen obliquely." Bruntwood who are
marketing the building say that it is, "...one
of Manchester’s most stunning period
properties, providing a stylish combination of
contemporary and traditional offices. The nine
storey office building features an impressive
marble reception area with a sweeping
staircase."
