Below is an extract from the 1947 Belle Vue Zoo Guide


In 1928 an enclosure for mountain goats was built next to the Paddock. It was known as the Rocky Mountain Enclosure.

Several varieties of deer, including Pere David Deer, were found in Belle Vue from the earliest times. They were housed in and around the Paddock

Camels shared a glass-roofed house with the giraffe. They also had an out-door enclosure and obviously got out occasionally to meet the visitors.
