For 11 years, from 1941 until 1952, the Belle Vue Aces had a woman manager, Alice Hart. When she left Belle Vue, the famous Johnnie Hoskins took over the job. Ever the promoter, Hoskins was responsible for the introduction to Belle Vue of Stock Car racing. The first race was held in June of 1954.

John Smith first went to watch Stock Cars at Belle Vue in 1959 going on a bus trip with his dad. In later years he drove himself to the races that were held once a month on the occasions that the Aces were competing "away". Below are two images from John's site which is well worth a visit for anyone who is a fan of stock car racing over the years or of Belle Vue.  You can visit John's site by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.
