Fred
Marquis attended the Ardwick Higher Grade School around 1900.
Some 60 years later I was asked to accompany Donald Woodhead to his
memorial service at Manchester Cathedral. I was selected along
with one or two other prefects basically on the grounds that I was in
uniform. I had no idea who Fred Marquis was even in his latest
persona as Lord Woolton. I do remember that afterwards, perhaps
as a reward, Don took us for tea at Lewis's.     |
