Pelikanplaz, Zurich, Switzerland



This elegant art nouveau building occupies one quarter of Pelikanplaz in central Zurich.  It was apparently designed by the architect Herman Weideli and built between 1909 and 1915.  Matching towers occupy the corners of the building on which there are bas-relief sculptures.  The one shown below is of Winged-Mercury, a symbol often found on buildings that are or were telephone exchanges.
