St. Jakob
am Anger, Munich, Germany
The http://www.muenchen.de website
outlines the history of this Munich
church: "The institute church of St.
Jacob was last destroyed in 1944 except for the
outer walls and completely rebuilt in its present
form as a brick building in the years 1955-1957.
Inside the consistently white, high-class place of
worship hangs above the altar the unusual
interpretation of a crucifix by Josef Henselmann.
Several important works of art adorn the room, eg
a medieval sculpture of St. James by Erasmus
Grasser. It is also worth taking a look up to the
flat ceiling, whose modern, colorful frescoes Bill
Nagel designed. Last but not least, the grave of
the blessed founder of the school and of the order
Maria Theresia by Jesus Gerhardinger is also
worshiped here. St. Jakob am
Anger hosts daily masses and the church is open
until late afternoon."
