This new building was scheduled for completion in 2014. The image above was taken in September of 2013. The image below in January of 2015. It sits on a narrow site sandwiched between Blackfriars Road and the railway viaduct in Southwalk with one end defined by Southwalk Street and the other by Burrell Street. This £61million development for Great Portland Estates involves the construction of what the architects describe as, " ... a large commercial parallelogram and a small residential trapezoid in plan." The commercial building will stand 20 storeys high and provide, " ... over 220,000 square feet of high performance office space, animated by ground-level retail units" including a triple height "sky room" at the top. At street level the building is cut-away to, " ... add generosity to the public realm." According to Great Portland Estates, the media and publishing company UBM has taken a 105,000 sq ft pre-let to function as its UK headquarters.
