Description |

Potsdamer
Platz was once an important and bustling
centre of Berlin. Much of it was
destroyed by bombing in World War II and the
destruction continued during the creation of
the no-man's-land behind the Berlin
Wall. After the Wall came down the area
once again became an important focal point for
the reunited city. At the centre of the
redevelopment of the site is Helmut Jahn's
Sony Centre. The Center, which is located next to the Potsdamer Platz railway station, contains a mixture of retail, service, cultural, office and residential buildings arranged around an open plaza with a spectacular roof. |
