This
collection of new buildings sit astride
the railway lines running into the nearby
Liverpool Street Station. Designed
by the architectural practice of Skidmore,
Owings and Merril the development has been
the recipent of a number of awards
including: - The 2010
Worshipful Company of Chartered
Architects, "New City
Architecture Award" The development includes the Broadgate
Tower which stands 35 storeys
high. The site provides two office buildings,
cafés, restaurants, bars and other
reatil outlets. It also offers a
public piazza below the galleria. The building's website describes the approach to the site as going, "through a large plaza enhanced by trees and high quality lanscaping." Inside the reception area, that is finished in polished granite, "... escalators rise to two travertine lift lobbies. Here double decker lifts with state of the art destination control systems provide the most efficient lift service to all floors." |
