Description
This building was Eric Parry Architects submission to a limited invitational competition to develop proposals for the redevelopment of the site of the former London Stock Exchange building at 60 Threadneedle Street.  They say that, ".... The new ten-storey 325,000 ft² office building incorporates a new public pedestrian passageway with retail frontage across the site, provides a visual and physical connection between neighbouring streets, enhancing the public realm and townscape setting."  The dramatic public sculpture, "The City Wing" is a feature of the public space.  This 38 foot high painted bronze sculpture is a creation of the sculpture Christopher Le Brun.



The 60 Threadneedle Street website describes the building as posessing "Effortless Style", addng that it, "...  is the perfect addition to a classic location. Timeless design respect and historic context and delivers flexible efficient office space. An innovative approach to sustainability anticipates the requirements of the future. ... A range of measures combine to minimise 60 Threadneedle Street’s impact on the environment, and consequently to achieve and Excellent BREEAM rating. "
