The Neue Pinakothek was built in 1981 replacing a previous building that had been destroyed during WWII.  Both the Alte and Neue Pinokotheks were damaged in the bombing, but whilst the Alte Pinakothek was rebuilt, the original Neue was demolished and replaced with this building designed by Alexander Freiherr von Branca.  The museum says that it, " ... shows some 400 paintings and sculptures from the 19th century ranging from Classicism to Jugendstil. Among the particular highlights are the paintings of the German Romantics and French Impressionism.
